Nov 2, 2007, To San Diego. One Way = 4,200 Miles
On November 2nd, 2007, I left on a one way 14 day trip to San
Diego, CA. I was on my faithful Honda Goldwing 2005.
The trip distance by way of the crow is 2,100 miles, but I
logged 4,200 miles on the way out. The extra milage was because I took
many scenic detours off my main route which was SR 70. I traveled thru
Ark., Ok., Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and California.
It was a
little cold when I left Sevierville Nov. 2nd. but warmed up as I passed
thru Memphis. I had great weather all the way and never saw a drop of
rain. I traveled several scenic highways. One was SR 7 north out of Hot
Springs Ark toward the Ozark Mountains. The scenery in New Mexico and
Arizona was unbelievable. A favorite stop was the old Gold mining town
of Gerome, Arizona. I left my bikes in San Diego and plan to return in
January for the return ride home. San Diego is beautiful and warm year
round. I visited Balboa Park and toured the Dead Sea Scrolls exibit. I
plan to take the southern route home in hope of warmer weather.

June 10, 2006, 3,350 Mile Motorcyle Trip To Maine
This June I traveled on my 2005 Honda Goldwing to Maine.
There were a total of seven bikes in our group. Some of the highlights
were a visit to Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Factory in Vermount, Niagra
Falls, Bar Harbor Maine, Acadia National Park and the Hershey Candy
factory in Pa. The entire trip covered 3,350 miles. I learned one fact
on this trip. There are only a few places in the United States that
equal the beauty of our Smoky Mountain National Park.

Sept. 11, 2004 Montana Motorcycle Trip..5,400 miles
I just returned from a wonderful motorcycle trip to Glacier National
Park. There were four motor cyclist that made the trip and we endured
every type of weather there is including the good, the bad and the ugly.
Some of the places we visited were Custer Batttle Field, Mount Rushmore,
Crazy Horse, Wall Drug, Sturgis, Needles Highway, Devils Tower, Bad
Lands, Glacier National Park and Colorado Springs. We left September
the 11th and returned 14 days later. Early snow kept us from seeing
Yellowstone, Jackson Hole and Bear Tooth Pass. Riding across the great
plains gave me a great sense of freedom and let me see how beautiful
this country is. My White 2004 Gold Wing performed beautifully through
snow, the fog in Glacier National Park, a 37 degree cold rain in
Colorado, and twistie hair pin curves on the Needles Highway out of
Sturgis. Some of the days on the road when the going was tough I must
have felt like Col. Custer, "What am I doing here?" But the good days of
riding out weighed the bad and it was a trip of a life time.
Next summer we plan to take a more Southern route through New Mexico,
Arizona and Colorado.
